Spring Band and Choir Concert
We have so much talent in our school!

Maryland County Projects
Fourth graders picked different Maryland counties at random. They went to the computer lab and did research on the counties land forms, rivers, attractions, political figures, and famous people from the county. Students made a poster out of the information they found and did a presentation to the class. Nice work!

"James and the Giant Peach" Projects
Fourth graders read "James and the Giant Peach" by Roald Dahl. The fourth graders did a variety of projects including a literature packet with characterization and comprehension activities, a mobile that identified the different character traits of the various characters in the story, and giant illustrations of their favorite characters. Students also wrote an interview of the character they drew. They asked the character various questions about their journey in the story. The students did a great job!

Devotions to Mary
May is the Month of Mary. In preparation for this the students created an altar for Mary. They included various prayers to Mary, as well as their own prayer to Mary.
Students created signs of negative phrases we might say when we are sad- and responses from the Bible that God would say. God can lift us up out of any situation!

Manna Food Drive Donations!
The Fourth Grade class finished their service project last week. The whole school collected food donations for the Manna Food Bank. This food bank gives food to thousands of families in our area. The fourth graders were in charge of collecting all the food from the various classrooms every day during the food drive. They organized the donations, and loaded our cars with all the food. They also advertised the food drive with hand drawn posters. They did a great job and it made the service project very meaningful to them. They were happy to give to people in our community!

Sister Vincent de Paul taught us about the altar and Tabernacle and when we should bow in church. She sang songs about praying to Jesus with the class. We love you Sister!

Field Trip to Annapolis and the Maritime Museum!
Fourth and fifth graders took an amazing trip to our state capital- Annapolis! We started our day at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. This great museum is right on the water and an old oyster canning factory! The students got to learn about ecology. The weather was rainy, cold and wet- but it did not stop the amazing staff from planning great hands on activities! Students got to learn about the pollution in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, explore the museum artifacts on harvesting oysters from the bay, use giant oyster claws to grab oysters like fishermen used to, explore creatures from the bay (small fish, and eel, and crabs), and build a buoy! The second part of our trip was a ferry ride around the Naval Academy! It was a great day despite the rain- and the kids had a wonderful time!
Students learned where pollution comes from that ends up in the Chesapeake Bay.

We learned about marine life in the bay. We talked about what we would find..

Small fish, oysters, shrimp, and crabs!

Check out the high tide!

We used this chart to  identify the different bay creatures!

Where does the pollution come from? How can we stop this ?

We learned about oysters harvesting in the Chesapeake Bay- and how the oysters were collected from the bottom of the bay with giant claws!

We explored different marine life from the bay and compared the creatures.

What  kind of creature is this????

That is a giant Oyster!

This tank was filled with fish from the bay!

This is what fishermen wear to catch oysters and crabs!

We built buoys!

We worked in groups to come up with the buoy design!

Will it float?

Our Chilly ferry ride around the Naval Academy!
